Producer: CHATEAU RIEUSSEC
The Rieussec estate was the property of local monks in the 18th century. Following the French Revolution, church property was confiscated by the state and auctioned off. So began the journey of Chateau Rieussec to become one of the greatest Sauternes wines, and sweet wines of France. Classified as a first growth in 1855, it is now in the care of the famous Rothschild family. Given that their portfolio also includes Lafite and Mouton, Rieussec is in esteemed company. These wines are marvelous, luscious dessert wines that benefit greatly from bottle ageing and will keep for decades to come.
Château Rieussec has been a leading wine in Sauternes for several generations. Ranked as a Premier Grand Cru in 1855, it is made with a subtle blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
Bottling began at the end of March 2013. Strong colour. Very floral, vivid nose, light, well-integrated woodiness. The palate is fresh, elegant and complex with a lively, slightly spicy finish, and some notes of exotic fruit. Excellent length.
