Producer: Agricola Punica
Agricola Punica is a joint venture between Tenuta San Guido of Sassicaia’s fame and the highly respected Cantina di Santadi winery. Their aim is to celebrate the use of ‘Carignano’, the local Sardinian clone of Carignan, by utilising it in Bordeaux Blends. This is a ‘Super Sardinian’, using the ‘Super Tuscan’ model to pay homage to the region, whilst also creating unique, ground breaking wines. Barrua was created under the supervision of legendary winemaker Giacomo Tachis: the Godfather of Super Tuscans.
The blend is 85% Carignano, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot; which delivers blackberries, prune, tar, liquorice and black olives on the palate. Powerful but balanced.
