About us

Porte Noire was born out of a friendship, a bottle of Champagne, and a belief that the best wines deserve to be shared.

From Champagne
to King's Cross

It started with a visit to the prestigious Sanger viticultural school in Champagne in 2018. Oenophile David Farber and Idris Elba discovered a shared passion that led to their critically acclaimed Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru.

Following their Champagne and an organic Provence rosé, the next chapter was Porte Noire King's Cross — awarded 2 AA Rosettes in 2024 and 2025.

Food worthy of the finest bottles

Our menu is Mediterranean in spirit, composed by Head Chef Gonzalo from fresh, seasonal ingredients — every dish made in-house, from the handmade pasta to the ice creams. Plates are designed to share, to linger over, and to pair.

Porte Noire London

David Farber & Idris Elba

David Farber brings decades of experience in the European wine trade — his knowledge of Champagne and Provence forms the curatorial backbone of Porte Noire.

Idris Elba brings his instinct for storytelling. His connection to wine is personal: rooted in the belief that sharing a great bottle is one of life's most human experiences.

"I wanted to put together a special collection of wines with stories I think needed to be told. I've always understood the importance of story — and these are great conversation starters."

- Idris Elba, Co-founder
